I was @ the metolious river downstream allingham bridge fishing for beutiful native bows w/ my 5 weight rod & a size 16 pmd.i had hooked on to quite a few fish including a whitefish.after hooking onto another 16" bow i casted one more time to the same spot this time getting into a 10"er.As i reeled him in, this greenish very large silluette appeared out of a log across the river from me and grasped my poor little rainbow in its powerful jaws.I couldnt believe what just happened,i was in a trance for a second and realized i had to get a good look @ this thing. So I reajusted my drag and the fight was on.Meanwhile the fisherman across the way had seen what had happened and hurried over the bridge to my side to get a better look.By the time he got there i had the fish very close to the bank feeling every bite he took on the small rainbow through my rod.i asked the guy,("what the hell is that"?)he responded that it was one the biggest bull trout that he ever saw.("thirty incher @ least.")I'll go w/28"es.Now being that my last pmd was in the bows mouth,I was hoping to get it back. But big bad bully had other plans in store, for as soon as i stepped foot in the water he took off like a buffalo in mid stampede and succeeded in taking both "FISH AND FLY" away to its dinner table under his log. Ever since then i have been pursuing bull trouts w/6"streamers on the metolious and have been rewarded w/these predatory wonders many times.

Im a chef for a latin nouveau restaurant(hola restaurant) in bend which could be very stressful at times.Oviously, i enjoy fly fishing & practice catch & release w/all wild native fish & occaionally keep only hatchery fish to cook some good food.
