The first time i caught a oversize spottail on a fly about 4 years ago: Haha i had searched the grass flats behind Edisto Beach, South Carolina for almost two weeks in my kayak and on the second to last day of my trip i finally found some tailers. The flat was loaded with them so i ditched the kayak and snuck up on foot. I spooked the first fish i cast to and as he was fleeing i put the fly in front of his face. to my complete surprise he ate and ripped the 8 wt. from my hands and off the flat into the river. I dove into the river and, thank god, grabbed hold of the rod. I landed him about 10 minutes later and measure him right at 31 inches. Pretty fun stuff.
